The work
Figurative realism, then the break.
Portraits and figures, painted closely. Some of them carry echoes of the Renaissance. Then something interrupts the picture, on purpose.
I trained in archaeology before I painted. That is probably why the surfaces matter to me as much as the subject. You build in layers, and you excavate them.
Glitch
A digital error, painted by hand in oil, inside a classic image. The picture looks composed until it does not.
Latex
A layer that covers part of the painting. It hides, and it reveals. In Uncensor Me, only the buyer removes it.

About Su Lin
Su Lin Casanova is a self-taught oil painter based in Xalapa, Mexico. She trained in archaeology before she painted, and she still works in layers, building and excavating at once.
Her figures start as classic images. Then something breaks them: a glitch painted by hand, or a layer of latex.
In the studio. Each painting takes about a month, from the first layer to the signature.
